Week 01 Origination 2012

Subject Outline

Collaboration and Origination.
Aims for each student to expand our creative minds and aid us to form original art work of some medium, and for the first few lessons we need to understand what we’re doing before we dive. It’s foolish to plunge without knowing, right?

Format.
For the first hour and a half we each had to complete a quiz, followed up by a mass of thinking games. BREAK!! After sucking up freedom we continued with idea generation, group activities, exhibition concept and critical discourse.

Group Exercise.
We were each thrown into five groups, each given a topic to define, our group had to define “Creative thinking”. This is what became of it.

Creative Thinking.
“A way of looking at problems or situations from a fresh perspective that suggests unorthodox solutions (which may look unsettling at first) Creative thinking can stimulated both by an unstructured process such as lateral thinking.” As referenced by -

My Personal Definition.
Creative thinking is about using your imagination and logical thinking to come up with various ideas to create something worth inventing with any medium of the artists preferred choice.

What I came up with:

Kao Te Ni - This illustration was spontaneous through using the lessons and information learnt. it started with just a simple manga style head, which developed into a boney body, claw like hands, a skirt filled with eyes, demonic wings, a water tin and tentacles. Each of these aspects came from one person I know of. Given the mask hides another face, eyes for spying, aided by the wings giving no limit to it's range to spy. The tentacles are new to me (illustration wise) but are used to keep hold of you when you try and run. The water tin is used to absorb souls. In summary it is how I see this person.
